David R. Twiddy

Mr. Twiddy began his insurance career in 1983. He and his business partner built their agency into one of the largest independent insurance agencies in northeast North Carolina. Prior to selling Dowd and Twiddy Insurance Agency, Inc. to HamptonRoads Bankshares in 2000, Mr. Twiddy served as Vice President of the agency. After HamptonRoads Bankshares acquired the agency, Mr Twiddy became President and Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Insurance Services, Inc. In 2001, Mr. Twiddy also became President of Gateway Investment Services, Inc. In 2005, Mr. Twiddy became President and Chief Operating Officer of HamptonRoads Bankshares. With the completion of the acquisition of HamptonRoads Bankshares and Trust Co., Inc. by Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. on December 31, 2008, Mr. Twiddy became Chief Executive Officer of HamptonRoads Bankshares.
